JAZZ RECORD LABELS
Previous 1 2 3 4

Potlach
A label dedicated to free jazz. Artists include Derek Bailey and Fred van Hove.
Premonition Records Launched in 1993 by drummer Michael Friedman, this Chicago-based label features Patricia Barber, Von Freeman, Terry Callier, Bobby Broom, JUBA Collective, and the Paul Wertico Trio, among others. Check them out!
React Music
A trend-setting English label that produces Acid Jazz and techno.
Red Giant Records
An independent, artist run recording and distribution label founded by guitarist/composer Liberty Ellman in January 1997. Featured artists include Vijay Iyer and Midnight Voices.

Red Records

Hey the site may be in Italian, but the music is global. Artists include Kenny Barron & Sphere, Jerry Bergonzi, Billy Higgins, and Dave Liebman plus several Italian jazz stars.
Shanachie Records
Shanachie has popular smooth artists such as Nelson Rangell and Walter Beasley as well as Cajun, New Orleans, and Americana.

Siam Records

A new label, based in New York City. Bassist Bakithi Kumalo and the Khan/Mounsey duo highlight the talent.
Songline Records
A very hip label putting out avant/modern jazz in all it's glory, such as the new Deviantics by Chris Speed.
Stretch Records
This offshoot of Concord was co-founded by Chick Corea and Ron Moss, and seeks to present "music with no boundaries." Artists on the label include Chick himself, Tim Garland, Steve Davis, Avishai Cohen, and Dave Weckl.
Telarc International
A label that runs the spectrum from great classical recordings to jazz and blues. Artists include Ahmad Jamal, Jim Hall, and Oscar Peterson.

Thirsty Ear Records

A truly unique label not afraid to go against the grain. Their blue series records featuring Matthew Shipp and the William Parker Trio challenge convention. A small label with attitude.

Truspace Records

This truly international record label features jazz artists from Korea, Brazil, and the U.S., plus a great site design.
Ubiquity Records
Seems like there music is popping up everywhere. (Get it?) Get into the acid jazz groove, the cutting edge of a needle on vinyl.
The Unit Circle Rekkids
Featuring creative improvisational groups and artists such as Amy Denio and Bill Horist, this label seems to have real courage in putting out experimental music that is way, way off the beaten path, and not tied to a particular genre, but is richly rewarding to listen to.

Vanguard Records

This isn't a jazz label exclusively, but I've pointed you to the jazz portion of their catalogue. The only "modern" jazz guy really, is Larry Coryell.

Verve Music Group

The Web Home Of Verve, GRP, Impulse!, and Blue Thumb Records includes tour dates, downloads, eCards, 30,000 Soundclips and more
Warner Bros. JazzSpace
Putting out records from the Pat Metheny Group, Wallace Roney, Earl Klugh, Milton Nascimento, and many others, this site offers RealAudio clips of new and top releases.

Zebra Records
Zawinul's World Tour and Vince Mendoza's Epiphany are among the great Zebra CDs available.
