MILAN RECORDS TO RE-RELEASE HABANA SECRETA, ONE OF THE ALL-TIME GREAT CUBAN/JAZZ COLLABORATIONS

BURBANK, CA - Milan Records has announced the re-release of Habana Secreta from Jose Maria Vitier and other artists for March 15, 2005. This album represents an amazing effort by several artists of Cuba to present through their original collaborations, a new dimension of Cuban music focused on the connection between classical and Latin music.

Cuban music's success has been limited in the eyes of the mainstream audience to Salsa and similar exotic rhythms. Habana Secreta aims at disclosing a more intimate and deeper dimension of Cuban music where classical music, Latin jazz, piano and percussion marry each other with dynamism and pleasure to create a unique album that will surprise and appease the classical specialist as much as the salsa lover.

This album came to fruition because of its various players' commitments to express their love of the musical culture of their island through these songs.

JOSE MARIA VITIER: Long considered one of the greatest Latin music composers. He wrote the soundtracks for Strawberry And Chocolate and El Siglo De Las Luces. He is one of the most famous representatives of the classical music scene of Cuba.

SILVIO RODRIGUEZ: One of the most famous contemporary songwriter/singers in Cuba. The heart and mind of the "Nueva Trova" musical movement lends his beautiful and pure voice on the beautiful song Ven.

TATA GUINES: If congas should be defined by a name it would be Tata Guines. This legend of Cuban culture is one of the most talented conga players in the world. The deep and soulful congas married with the piano of Jose Maria Vitier on this album create some of the most beautiful songs of Cuban heritage such as the opening song El Manisero Se Fue.

The album also features the voice of Miriam Ramos, the percussion of Miguel Anga and the collaborations of excellent Cuban musicians such as Sergio Vitier (guitar) and Lazaro Gonzales (violin).

The two songs Ven and Llama De Amor Viva are based on the poems of St John Of The Cross. Habana Secreta is more than a tribute to good music; it is a tribute to a culture that has always praised the mixture of cultures, influences and times.
