MACINTOSH MP3 PLAYERS
|
The Macintosh has long been used
as an audio content platform, but some difficulties inherent in
the Mac OS make MP3 playing difficult on many Mac machines. Nonetheless,
there are a number of players available with excellent functionality
and features similar to those found on Windows and Linux players.

| Windows
Media Player for Macinstosh 6.3 Beta:
The new Windows Media Player for Macintosh 6.3 Beta allows you to
play audio and video content – both streaming and downloaded – in
the industry-leading Windows Media formats. With Windows Media,
you get CD-quality audio at half the file size of MP3. Even over
a 28.8 modem, you get FM-quality sound with Windows Media. And the
advanced video compression technologies employed in Windows Media
guarantee you the best overall picture quality for streamed videos.
Look for content designated with "Best viewed in Windows Media Player"
or a "Windows Media" logo, and stream it to this player, which has
a host of new advanced features to improve your viewing and listening
experience. |

SoundJam
MP: The most popular Mac MP3 application,
it encodes and plays MP3 files. Very intuitive interface, the
usual Mac drag and drop ease, and fully skinnable.
SoundJam's equalizer contains a nice set of preset
options that include Classical, Jazz, Lounge, Hall, and Pop &
Rock.

| MACAST:
MACAST is a close competitor to WinAmp, but there is also a MACAST
Lite which is limited to basic playback functions. |
|
| SoundApp:
This free player will play pretty much any audio file type you'll
encounter (unless it hasn't been invented yet). This program is
known for being extremely stable, so if you are having problems
with some other applications, try out SoundApp. |
